Exile Museum

It is well know by all that civilization has lived and still lives periods around which they have been forced to abandon their countries and homes.

Without going further we can remember what happened during the spanish civil war and also what ias still to day in the news, such as Yugoslavia, Kosovo and other countries.

The region of Salines Bassegoda has not escaped from living these experiences and what is more it lived one that effected it directly, exile during the spanish Civil War.

"The work association for the eile museum" has, as its object to study and disclose the facts and experiences of the people in this society as a consequence of racial, social, economical and war conflicts.

At the moment this association is creating a Study Centre to be able to interpret world exile.

Concretely and with the sole aim to premote this project they have programmed:

1. - The Installation of a monument in the place know as "Sota la Quadra" facing the Pyrenees mountains. This monument has been inaugurated on the eight of April of this year

The Monument   have a height of four meters and represents a father who is obliged to exile   with his small daughter who has lost a leg. The inspiration comes from a photograph taken by Roger Viollet.

2. - Interpretation, Study Centre and divulgence:

The building where this will be is very near to La Vajol. Following the road that comes from Maçanaet de Cabrenys to La Vajol. It is "Can Canta's old mine or Negrin mine, where the armour plated chamber can be found ard where the republican treasure was, and where the museum will be built
